Uluru is one of Australia’s most recognisable landmarks. Thousands of tourists watch in wonder how it changes colour at sunset and I did too, but I find it even more interesting walking around it, getting close.
There are many fascinating details like patterns and colours, smaller rocks lying at the base and the red earth and green vegetation surrounding it. When it rains the colours intensify and water finds well worn channels to cascade down to form a pond.
Standing at the pond and looking up, following the natural folds of the rock, is almost a mystical experience.
